Rhacodactylus is a genus of medium to large geckos of the subfamily Diplodactylinae found on the islands that make up New Caledonia. Characteristics include long limbs and toes with well developed lamellae, some webbing on the hind limbs and toes. Rhacodactylus possess prehensile tails which also have lamellae to assist in climbing. Rhacodactylus are nocturnal and are for the most part arboreal geckos. Memebers of this genus include the Gargoyle Gecko, Crested Gecko, and a number of Giant Geckos.

The Association of Reptilian and Amphibian Veterinarians (ARAV) is an international veterinary organization promoting conservation and humane treatment of all reptilian and amphibian species through education, captive breeding, and habitat preservation.
