Care Sheet
Lepidodactylus lugubris, known as the mourning gecko or common smooth-scaled gecko, is a species of lizard, a gecko of the family Gekkonidae. And found in many tropical locations around the globe.
Size: Adult size up to 4” lives up to 10yrs
Feeding/Watering: Crested Gecko diet dry in a dish.(you can feed mixed or dry) I personally use Pangea/Rapashy/Lugarti. For added protein I also mix in Rapashy Grub Pie, Superworm Pie or Powdered Cricket. Micro mealworms, Buffalo beetle larva and flight-fruit flies.
Mist enclosure daily for water and humidity required to aid in shedding.
Vitamin/Minerals: Dust insects with Rapashy Calcium plus every other feeding.
Temperament/Calls: Can be housed in communal groups and with dart frogs. They will chirp and call to each other to announce food or communicate to each other. It is not a loud call. I’d compare to a small bird.
The most visually striking of all the locales.
Temps/Lighting: Ambient 76-78° UVB isn’t necessary. I keep a LED lamp on my girls and during the day they will happily be basking under it.
Enclosure Size: Vertical setup 1/2-1g per adult size animal. Up to 3 adults can be kept in a 8x8x12 sized enclosure.
Hides/Decor: Hanging foliage, platforms for basking, will also use branches for perches.
Substrate: Peat/Coco/Spag moss mix. Can be kept bioactive be sure to set up with a drainage layer as to not have a stagnant swamp at the bottom of the enclosure.
