Aldabra Pair of Males for Sale - Doug 29

Hi all,

I am putting the word out that I am selling my Aldabra giant tortoises, Doug and Pete. The photos are over a year old and both tortoises have grown substantially since they were taken.

I have raised tortoises for more than 21 years. For the first 13 years I raised, bred, hatched, and sold African Leopard Tortoises throughout the United States. In 2013 I acquired my first Aldabra and have been raising these remarkable giants ever since.

Doug is a confirmed male (has flashed), and Pete also appears to be male, although that is not yet guaranteed.

During Minnesota winters they live indoors in a large custom-built enclosure in my basement, complete with a ramp system and motorized door providing access to the outdoors. During the summer months they live outside 24/7 in a secure custom-built enclosure with a 6-foot perimeter fence designed specifically for giant tortoises.

Both tortoises are healthy, active, and thriving, with potentially more than a century of life ahead of them. Their diet consists of approximately 90% organic orchard grass hay, 5% Mazuri Tortoise Diet, and 5% fresh vegetables.

I have done the hard work of raising them from 13-ounce hatchlings through their most demanding years. That includes years of careful feeding and the challenge of getting them to become enthusiastic hay eaters. Today they readily consume coarse orchard grass hay directly from the bale, which has become the foundation of their diet.

At 10 years old they are still youngsters and continue to gain size and weight each year. This is an opportunity to acquire large, healthy, well-established Aldabras that have been raised with exceptional care from the very beginning.

I am offering them only to serious buyers who understand the long-term commitment required to care for these incredible animals.
